Sharni Pootoogook (Sharnee) (1922– 2003) Gosling

Sharni Pootoogook was born in Kinngait in 1922. Sharni was introduced to graphic arts and printmaking when the Kinngait printmaking program was established in the late 1950s. Her work quickly gained attention, and was included in the Cape Dorset 1964/1965 and 1966 annual print collections.

ᖃᓪᓗᓈᖅᑕᐃᑦ ᓯᑯᓯᓛᕐᒥᑦ Printed Textiles from Kinngait Studios is on now at the Textile Museum of Canada until June 1, 2021.

Please note that this scarf design includes some textures and folds visible in the original printed fabric from Kinngait Studios in the 1950s and 60s. Any small imperfections in the print are due to the handling of the fabrics as they were discovered after years of storage in Kinngait.
