Collection: Lora Bertolo

Lora Bertolo grew up in Toronto with her Italian immigrant parents; her interest in textiles and making started at a young age while watching her mom sew. She has a degree in Fashion Design from TMU, and years of experience ranging from creating custom wedding dresses, to making knit garments.

It was at the start of the pandemic in 2020 when completing a Basket Coiling workshop with Ruth Woods from Craft School Oz that she found her craft within the textile industry.  Basket Coiling supports her values and satisfies her needs as a designer, maker and human. Using only upcycled textiles in her practice, she demonstrates her values of reducing, repurposing and reusing material to minimize waste.  

Lora enjoys teaching the craft, as she says it is a forgiving craft with endless creative options, the process is therapeutic and the more people that repurpose textiles, the better it is for everyone. You can find her on instagram @lorabertolo.
