Collection: Martha Kyak - InukChic
Martha Kyak is a self-taught artist and seamstress. She grew up in Pond Inlet, Nunavut, the youngest of eleven children. Her passion has always been sewing and designing as she grew up watching her mother and sisters sew. True to her Arctic roots, sealskin is featured predominantly in many of her designs.
Martha is currently an instructor in the Inuit Studies Program at Ottawa-based Nunavut Sivuniksavut, an affiliate of Algonquin College, where she teaches Inuit history, Inuktitut, and sewing. Martha’s company, InukChic, includes garments, jewelry and paintings that draw from traditional Inuit designs and contemporary influences.
