Collection: Yaksok

Mary Kim is based out of Toronto. She crafts light cotton cord necklaces, made of OEKO-TEX certified recycled cotton. Each necklace is handmade.

Yaksok means promise in Korean. Mary started making these necklaces at a time when she needed meditation and healing. She was inspired by her 7 year old son’s various knotting skills, a focused and calming exercise he learned in forest school, as well as the knots found in traditional Korean talismans -- they inspire strength. One day, her son noticed that she had made so many necklaces and asked her what she was going to do with them. Her son suggested she open a necklace shop and they brainstormed what name to use. He was quiet for a moment, then said, “Well, knots are like pinky promises — you should call your shop Yaksok!”

Yaksok is Mary Kim's promise to her son to lead a long life in strength, creativity, and gratitude. You can see more of Mary's work on instagram @yaksokto.
